About Haynes Publishing
Its not about us, its about you
At our very core, we exist to empower you —to turn curiosity into confidence, frustration into triumph, and the everyday vehicle "owner" into a capable, confident "doer".
Our goal is more than just providing step-by-step instructions. It’s about handing you, the DIYer the keys—not just to your vehicle, but to freedom, independence, and a deeper understanding of the machines that move your life forward. Whether you're a seasoned mechanic or someone popping the hood for the first time, our range of manuals are there like a steady hand on your shoulder, saying, "You can do this, let us show you how!"
Every manual we create is built on a belief: that knowledge is power. That the grit beneath your fingernails and the pride of fixing something yourself is worth more than just saving money—it's a reminder that you are capable, resourceful, and resilient.
With every page, diagram, and real-world tip, our team are seeking to help people like you rediscover something powerful—that you can take control, tackle challenges, and trust in your own two hands. That’s the Haynes spirit: not just helping you fix your vehicle, but helping you believe in yourself.
A little history
Haynes Publishing is a market leader in practical DIY servicing and repair advice for a huge range of vehicles - from cars, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, tractors and many more.
The story of Haynes begins in 1954 with John Haynes, then still at school, rebuilding the wreck of an Austin 7 as a '750 Special'. John wrote, illustrated and printed a small booklet describing the project.
If you were wondering, the first official title from Haynes & Co Ltd was publishing the Workshop Manual for the Austin-Healey Sprite, with thousands more makes, models and vehicles covered in the decades to follow.
Today through acquisition, Haynes is the home to many other automotive repair brands including Chilton, Rellim, I&T (Intertec), Gregory's and Clymer Manuals. The extensive range includes everything from classic cars and motorcycles to modern cars, tractors, ATVs, snowmobiles and marine craft, and is available in a range of printed books and new, online products.
We remain committed, through new technology and new ways to apply DIY knowledge, to create the very best do-it-yourself manuals in the world.
