Haynes Visits the Outlier's Guild Motorcycle Show in Los Angeles, CA

3 minute read

Haynes shot some awesome custom bikes at the second annual Outlier's Guild Motorcycle Show, aka the OG Motoshow, in downtown Los Angeles March 30th-April 1st, 2018. If you are going to build a custom bike, you need both a proper reference book, and a guide to making it run properly, and Haynes has manuals to do just that. Not only are many of our vintage manuals (produced when these bikes were new) still in print, but we cover modern classics like the Harley-Davidson Sportster, Triumph Bonneville, and BMW RnineT (coming soon). Also check out our sister company Clymer Manuals, for a whole lot more bike, ATV, marine, and snowmobile coverage.

The OG Motoshow is Los Angeles' fashionable biker community's answer to Austin's Handbuilt Show or Portland's One Show, and in only its second year has already managed to demand the bike world's attention. The show benefited immensely this year from the upcoming Custom Revolution show just opening at the Petersen Museum because several amazing bikes headed for that year-long exhibit stopped over at the OG show for the weekend.

No, Haynes does not have the manual for every bike that served as the basis of the most exotic customs. The Musket Two engine was created from a pair of Royal Enfield Bullet 500 motors from India, machined into a single, Vincent-like V-twin, and installed into a bike even more unique than the power plant. Then there was Kiyo's pink Harley-Davidson knucklehead that went the other way, creating a lightweight single-cylinder bobber. Also on hand was Sosa Metalwork's exotic board track racer styled bike, powered by a 1940s Indian engine, whittled to the minimum a motorcycle can be and polished till it was smooth.

But, Haynes does have coverage for just about every major Harley-Davidson made since 1970, and even more from our friends at Clymer. If you prefer a vintage Honda, we cover the old school air cooled four cylinders from the SOHC 400cc all the way up to DOHC 1100cc. Our BMW manuals cover most twins, triples, and fours from the 1960s all the way to the present day. And if you have a British bike, well the UK is where Mr. John Haynes started all of this more than 50 years ago, and our coverage of BSA, Norton, and Triumph goes back all the way to the 1950s.
